Yesterday's Fallout 76 patch detailed
A lot of minor fixes and tweaks have arrived, as well as ongoing support for performance and stability as the game moves forward.
Fallout 76 has received a fair few patches since its launch in November, with fixes aplenty and of course some new content added to the mix as well, like a bulldozer feature when editing your camp to remove small shrubs and rocks. Patch 5 has just landed too, continuing the ongoing support for the online game.
"As the game evolves, so do our patch notes," Bethesda explains. "With Patch 4 a few weeks ago, we added "Dev Notes" under some of our larger changes. We've done this to provide you with more context behind things like balance and design changes."
The developer also thanks fans for their continued feedback, and adds that questions will be addressed as they arise and that the team is working on a known issues post to keep updated.
You can find the full nitty-gritty of the extensive patch notes right here, but of course one of the big features is the continued improvements to performance and stability. There are also plenty of balance changes coming in to affect perks and weapons, as well as small tweaks to make things easier for players. For example, a '(Known)' tag will appear next to recipes and plans you've already learned from now on, making managing your inventory a little simpler. Recipes and plans are no longer randomised with vendors either, so you can make sure you're going to the right place for a specific item.
From now on players can only exceed their carry weight by a maximum of 1,500 pounds too so as to make the servers perform better, and cap stashes have turned into cap containers so they can properly reset in the world. We'll also get a server-wide message when a player joins the Hunter/Hunted queue now, and various events have had elements added. In the case of the Monster Mash event though, the amount of XP gained per round has been reduced from 350 to 100.
As mentioned there are plenty of other changes in extensive detail in Bethesda's blog, but it's good to see that so many changes are still coming for the game. What's more is that we can also expect a Survival Mode this March that adds a drastically different way to play, although PvE fans can also expect something around then too.
Do you still regularly play Fallout 76?
