Wildman still coming

Work continues despite lay-offs.

Despite recently launching a new project on Kickstarter (for more details on Wildman head this way), Gas Powered Games (Supreme Commander) had to make "substantial" cuts to its workforce last, casting the future of the Kickstart campaign - and the company itself - into doubt.

In a heartfelt update to backers (see the video below), company boss Chris Taylor asked the community whether the company should cancel their Kickstarter campaign in the wake of the departures, but they have been asked by fans to continue, and they have now confirmed that they will.

"I don't want to make any assumptions at this point, but things look much better, and I think it's still going to be a long road ahead, but we're prepared to work very hard to make this happen," Taylor recently told Polygon.

"I'm already making phone calls and setting up meetings to talk to key people about coming back, to see the campaign through. At least now, everyone has their eyes wide open, no surprises."

"It never occurred to me that the industry would rally like it did, and that people would then invest, not only in Wildman, but in helping me to save GPG and the team (in fact, it's probably the other way around, and I think the Kickstarter has become about saving a company and the game is a distant second)," Taylor added.

The Kickstarter campaign has a target of $1,100,000 USD, and so far has raised $269,844, with some backers offering contributions simply to help keep the company afloat. The campaign deadline is February 15.
