What is Smite?

Hi-Rez Studios, the team behind {Global Agenda} and the upcoming {Tribes: Ascend}, are also hard at work on a {Defence of the Ancients} (DotA) inspired God game called {Smite}.

Now this sounds a lot like {Demigod}, but {Smite} is switching things up in a couple of ways. First of all the game will employ a third person action perspective, and you will be aiming your attacks in real-time rather than just clicking an enemy from a top down perspective. The game will be free-to-play in a similar fashion to {League of Legends} and there will be 30 Gods to play with a launch drawing inspiration from Norse Mythology and Greek among other things.

{Smite} was playable for the press at Gamescom, and is also playable at PAX Prime this week. There is an interview with Hi-Rez CEO Todd Harris about {Smite} in work that will be released next month on GRTV.
