Top 7 HD remake wishlist

Lately we've been getting quite a few HD updates of classics on PSN and XBLA. Sure, there's Virtual Console and PSOne classics for those who are content with an emulated version of the original, but what games deserves to be brought back in full HD? We've compiled a wish list with games we feel are in line for a refurbishing.

Panzer Dragoon

If we're forced to pick one Panzer Dragoon game we'd like to see re-released it's probably Panzer Dragoon Saga - as it's a game that deserves exposure to a wider audience. But really, why not bring back the full Saturn trilogy of Panzer Dragoon games in full HD on consoles. The gameplay is still fresh and the series is one of Sega's most overlooked franchise (we've have seen a new game since {Panzer Dragoon Orta} on Xbox in 2003).

Phantasy Star Online

Sure, we're getting {Phantasy Star Online 2} on PC, PS Vita, Android, and iOS soon, but how about releasing the original game with online play for PSN, XBLA and potentially the Wii U eShop? There was an addictive hook to the original PSO that's hard to come by even in this day with hundreds of MMO games on offer to players. The simplicity, the weapons, the design, and the boss fights - we would play it and probably sink dozens of hours into again. It's simple instanced dungeon crawling fun in a wonderfuly designed world.

{Another World}

{Another World} was recently re-issued on Android and iOS for the 20th anniversary, but we'd love to see a full screen HD adaptation of what was one of the visually most stunning games of the 16-bit era. Don't make us wait for the 25th anniversary for a full-on HD {Another World} on consoles. Same goes for Flashback, by the way...

Star Wars Arcade

Sega developed Star Wars Arcade is a game that hit arcades almost twenty years ago (and later 32X), and while the graphics are dated - a cleaned up HD version would certainly get us excited. An even better deal if it would be bundled with the 1998 release Star Wars Trilogy Arcade. Now license issues are likely to complicate a re-release here, but it's a shame if it were to hinder a comeback.

Duck Tales

Back in the game when licensed games were some of the best games on offer. Capcom and Disney teamed up for several projects including Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers and Duck Tales. Sadly these games are lost in license limbo - and somehow we feel Disney owes it to the gaming crowd to bring them back and restore them in full HD. Disney also worked with Sega on several classic titles on Mega Drive, including World of Illusion and Quackshot. Why not release updated HD versions as collections on PSN, XBLA, and potentially eShop?

Day of the Tentacle

Not that long ago (2009) Lucasarts refurbished and re-released The Secret of Monkey Island 1 & 2 as Special Edition. But how about bringing back some of the other adventure classics you're hiding away in your coffers, Lucasarts? Day of the Tentacle? {Grim Fandango}? Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis? Full Throttle? There is an audience and the gameplay is as good as it ever was.

Road Rash II

Road Rash was a bit of a trendsetter when it first hit Mega Drive in 1991. Great racing, combined with the aggressive and narly nature of beating the opposition with a club. The sequel offered more diverse environments and a chain to go with your club, and remains the highlight of the series. The third game wasn't as good, and then the series took a major dive with subsequent games - and this is probably why the series remains in hiatus even with rumours of attempted reboots continue to surface. Updated HD versions of the first three games with online multiplayer would certainly be a great way to resurrect the franchise and get fans excited about a Road Rash Reborn.
