Tomb Raider: Catalyst

Tomb Raider: Catalyst launch window narrowed down

It seems like we can expect Lara's new adventure to start sometime between April 1 and December 31 in 2028.

We already know Lara Croft is back again next year, as Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis launches on PC, PlayStation 5, Switch 2, and Xbox Series S/X on February 12. However, we also know that Ms. Croft has bigger plans than that, because she also has a brand-new adventure in the works, titled Tomb Raider: Catalyst.

The latter was recently delayed until 2028, and now, thanks to Embracer Group's quarterly report, we have received clarification that more accurately reflects its release date. In it, we can read (via Tomb Raider Chronicles):

"Embracer Group has published its interim report for the first quarter of the 2026/27 financial year, confirming a release window for Tomb Raider Catalyst. According to the report, the next mainline Tomb Raider game from Crystal Dynamics is expected to launch in FY 2027/28. As Embracer's financial year runs from April 1 to March 31, this places Catalyst's expected release window between April 1, 2027 and March 31, 2028."

In short, Tomb Raider: Catalyst will be released between April 1, 2028, and March 31, 2029. And assuming the release is still scheduled for the 2028 calendar year, it means the game will launch during one of the last nine months of the year.

The original plan was for Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis to debut in 2026, but Grand Theft Auto VI and the upcoming TV series likely contributed to Amazon Game Studios' change of plans, while Tomb Raider: Catalyst was pushed back to the year after, and now we know a little more about when it will arrive.
