The Metro series will continue on PC despite dev comments
One 4A Games developer suggested the recent outrage might put future PC versions in jeopardy, but a new statement reiterated this isn't the case.
Last week there was plenty of news about Metro Exodus to be talking about. This all started when an exclusivity deal with the Epic Games Store was revealed, which then led to a bunch of questions regarding the move, including what would happen with PC users buying physical copies (they'll get Epic keys, by the way).
What's more is that various people involved with the franchise have also spoken out about the decision, with series creator Dmitry Glukhovsky saying that he was "standing by and watching it be killed" and Deep Silver's owner THQ Nordic also saying the decision was "entirely" Koch Media's.
Now the developer 4A Games has spoken on a Russian forum (as brought to us by VG247) to say that the outrage caused by this decision means that the next game in the franchise might not come to PC at all.
That might not necessarily be the case though, as the Metro Exodus Twitter account has issued its own statement on the matter, again reiterating that moving Metro Exodus from Steam to Epic was made by "Koch Media / Deep Silver alone".
"The recent comments made by a member of the 4A Games development team do not reflect Deep Silver's or 4A Games' view on the future of the franchise," the statement explains. "They do reflect the hurt and disappointment of a passionate individual who has seen what was previously nothing but positive goodwill towards his work turn to controversy due to a business decision he had no control over. We respectfully ask that any and all valid feedback over this decision is directed at Koch Media / Deep Silver, and not the developers at 4A Games."
This post also makes clear that the future release strategy lies with both Deep Silver and Koch Media, and that the decision to partner with the Epic Games Store "was based on the goal of investing in the future of the series and our development partner at 4A Games. We have every intention of continuing this franchise, and a PC version will always be at the heart of our plans."
The PC audience doesn't seem to be in danger then, despite the comments from 4A Games. Are you a part of this PC crowd?
