Scrolls wins first battle
Legal ruling goes Mojang's way.
The first round of the legal battle between Elder Scrolls creators Zenimax Media / Bethesda Softworks and {Minecraft} developers Mojang over the right to use the name {Scrolls} for Mojang's next title has been decided.
Markus "Notch" Persson wrote the following on his twitter:
"We won the interim injunction! We can keep using the name "{Scrolls}". ZeniMax/Bethesda can still appeal the ruling, but I'm very happy. :D"
While, it's easy to point a finger at overly zealous lawyers, it is only natural that Zenimax/Bethesda react to what is perceived infringement of their trademark. But, still it seems a bit silly to sue over the word "{Scrolls}" and it seems the courts felt the same way. At least for now.
