OnLive hits the UK

Cloud gaming service available now.

OnLive, the subscription-based cloud gaming service, has finally went live in the UK.

The service allows instant access to a wealth of big name titles - Deus Ex, Assassin's Creed: Revelations and Dirt 3 to name but three- from your PC, Mac, TV or even Tablet, and both SP and MP will be included. The service offers same day release as retail, and as the grunt work in running the titles is handled by remote servers, meaning you stream rather than download the titles, the company promise no wait period to play.

Sign-up and membership is free, but a subscription of £6.99 per month - which can be cancelled at any time - you can gain access to the library of games on the network. You can try out half-hour demos of titles, rent of buy them outright.

While you can run the service through your computer devices, the company offers a OnLive Micro Console with controller to plug directly into your TV for £69.99. The set, which is only somewhat larger than a Nintendo 3DS, gains you direct access to the OnLive Hub, which offers the usual social features expected of a online gaming service. The controller can be synced up with your computer devices to control games played on the service.

As an offer for first-time players to the service, OnLive are offering your first full game purchase for one pound, rather than the usual full price for the title.

You can get more info on how it works through the company's official website, as well as purchasing the Micro Console through the site's store.

We interviewed company CEO Steve Perlman about the system - expect to see that full interview on the site shortly. We've also got our hands on one of the Micro Consoles and will be testing the service out over this initial period- expect our thoughts and feedback over the coming weeks.
