Minecraft announced for Oculus Rift
Surprising and not surprising all at once.
Oculus held a keynote at something called Oculus Connect last night with several announcements regarding their Virtual Reality headset. One of them was that {Minecraft} will be coming to the format. This was announced by Oculus VR CEO Palmer Luckey, and the release date was narrowed down to sometime next spring.
Now if you've been following {Minecraft} and Oculus Rift stories you will know that Marcus "Notch" Persson, creator of {Minecraft}, once pledged $10,000 to the Oculus kickstarter. He was not very happy when the deal with Facebook was announced and so he discontinued the VR version of {Minecraft}. Of course, since then Notch made his exit from Mojang, selling the company to Microsoft and with Microsoft and Oculus VR striking deals (like including the Xbox One controller with every sold copy of Oculus Rift) it is perhaps no surprise that {Minecraft} will now support Oculus Rift in the end.
