Microsoft turned down Heavy Rain
Decision prompted by concerns over kidnapping theme.
Quantic Dream's David Cage has revealed that Microsoft turned down the chance to publish {Heavy Rain}, because they were worried about the themes of kidnapping that featured so prominently in the story.
At yesterday's BAFTA games lecture (and via Polygon), Cage explained: "They really loved {Fahrenheit}, and they really wanted to do something with us."
The subsequent project turned out to be {Heavy Rain}, which eventually went on to became a Playstation exclusive. Cage says that Microsoft "got scared," because the story centres around the kidnapping of a child. "They didn't want the scandal."
"Microsoft is a great company, I'm not complaining or criticizing," he concluded. "It was like, you know, we really can't work together."
Quantic Dream's next game, {Beyond: Two Souls}, is another Playstation 3 exclusive and is due out next month. You can see the latest trailer for it below.
