Human Element put on ice, Robotoki shuts down
Shooter on "hiatus" until a new publisher is found.
Rob Bowling's studio, Robotoki, has shut down and their ambitious first-person shooter, {Human Element}, has been put on ice.
The project was initially supposed to be a free-to-play project before a publishing deal was abandoned with Nexon and the game was repositioned as a full-priced boxed product.
"This week we have ceased operations at Robotoki and the development of Human Element is on hiatus," Bowling told Eurogamer. "We were actively negotiating a new publishing deal for the premium version of Human Element but unfortunately I was unable to continue to self-fund development until a deal was finalised."
Human Element was actually shown off as recently as last month, and you can see it in action below. Whether or not development will resume on the project remains to be seen, but given the fact that it has been in the works since 2012, it'd be a real shame for it be shelved permanently.
