Harmonix sold for $49.99
Maker of Rock Band sold for price of a game
All Things Digital reports that the deal that saw Viacom selling game developer Harmonix to Columbus Nova saw a mere $49.95 changing hands. According to the post the deal was structured in a way that saw Viacom netting tax benefits of around $150 million and Columbus Nova inheriting old stocks of {Rock Band 3} and instruments that are sitting on warehouse shelves as well as expensive music licenses. But no matter how you look at it the $175 million Viacom paid for Harmonix and the bonuses they paid out former owners amount to a rather poor deal overall for Viacom...

Harmonix went for as much as a copy of {Rock Band 3}. How symbolic.
