Painkiller: Hell & Damnation

GRTV: Painkiller interview

More on Hell & Damnation.

Nordic Games' Philipp Brock gives us the latest details on the remake of the original Painkiller that's due out next month.

Brock talked us through what he thinks sets Painkiller apart from other games: "It's unique in its setting, the Heaven and Hell theme, as well as every map being unique in its own way. So we're not basically reusing assets in different parts of the game. Every map has its own style, its own enemies, its own feeling to it. I think that, coupled with a nice heavy metal background, it's one way of relaxing after a hard day at work."

Apart from the usual tweaks and improvements, hardcore players can expect: "There will be new enemy spawn points. There will, of course, be a better pathfinding with regards to the AI, and the graphics of course."

We can expect to see the game late next month. Brock gave us the details: "We have a similtaneous release on October 31st. It will be PC platform, as well as Xbox 360, and the Playstation 3 version will follow, let's say first half of 2013. The Mac version is nice to have for 31st of October, but as soon as there's any problem with the Mac version it's the first one we'll put in line."
