GRTV: Far Cry 3 Co-op Interview

We catch up with Ubisoft Massive.

Ditte Deenfeldt, associate lead game designers over at Ubisoft Massive, talks to Rasmus about what we can expect from {Far Cry 3}‘s co-op campaign: "We have two to four player co-op. We have six maps, each one is about 45-60 minutes of gameplay. Drop in, drop out. One thing that's really important for me is that it is co-op that has been uniquely crafted to be co-op. Any situation that you're in, everything you see is made for co-op, it's not just network single player."

They also discuss the reasons behind making co-op maps tighter than their single player counterparts: "The teamwork, in this case, is more important than the freedom of the open world. I want people to play close to each other, I want them to stay close to each other, so they can help each other out in the situations. That means that the kind of levels that we've crafted isn't this open expanse."

Deenfeldt also points out a very good reason why the multiplayer won't focus on the same themes of insanity that feature in the single player campaign: "In co-op, if you're sitting on the couch with your brother, farting, there's not a lot of room for those sort of deep emotional experiences."
