Gamereactor's Super Mario Maker Challenge
GR Spain challenges GR Germany and GR Italy with their own level created in Nintendo's upcoming title.
These past days we've been playing the Super Mario Maker GR Challenge within the Gamereactor European network. A many of our editors are playing the new, creative Wii U game for review purposes, we decided to try a pretty cool idea with Nintendo's support.
David Caballero, GR Spain's Editor, grabbed his GamePad and created a very basic level with the handy in-game editor. Then, he sent that level as a challenge for both Martin Eiser from GR DE and Fabrizia Malgieri from GR IT to try. They captured their first tries and plays, along with live reactions, and here's the result:

Now, with this direct feed footage you can see how the Shell-Service V1 level was created with Super Mario Maker's Level Editor and a Wii U GamePad. It's a very basic level using just the first two waves of tools available. The setting, physics and actions are from the now 30 year old Super Mario Bros., and the main premise is taking advantage of enemies' own shells.
How to create a Level: Shell-Service (Super Mario Bros.)
The idea is to later update the level and add some sort of 'timer' when more tools become available, to make it clear that, at the beginning, you can't move forward unless you use the first bouncing turtle shell properly. For this, we're looking forward to auto-scroll options, or to some timed enemy/danger that kills you no matter what!
Of course, this video unveils that there's a hidden secret Super Star to make things easier (none of the players found it though), so beware of spoilers! You will be able to play this level by searching for ID 038B-0000-000F-46C4.
