Doom gets "new" multiplayer mode
id Software shares new details on new game modes and powerups.
When we visited id Software to preview the upcoming {Doom} game, most of the focus was on the campaign and SnapMap. Now the time has come for some multiplayer news.

Today we're told that Doom will launch with a "new" multiplayer mode called "Warpatch". This is a King of the Hill variant, where the capture point is moving in a circle around the arena. To make it interesting there'll constantly be a demonic rune opposite the capture point. Taking this transforms you into a Revenant, that can be quite useful for slaughtering enemies or controlling the area.
They also shared more details on the hack modules; single-use disposable items earned through the game's progression system. There are different kinds of these. Some of the examples they made were being able to display item respawn timers, pinging enemies that killed you on the map, and displaying health bars. Hack modules are timed, so they won't disappear on death.
Doom is heading to PC, PS4 and Xbox One on May 13. You can check out some multiplayer gameplay from the closed alpha below if you want to see it in action.
