Do not Run With a Plasma Sword

There is a long list of things you should not do with a plasma sword.

1) You should not attack the girls in the shower.
2) You should not scratch your back with it.
3) And most importantly: you can not run with it.

Of course, the latter example is just what you end up doing. Imagine Jetpack Joyride in turbo mode where you can slide, jump, double jump, dive and much more - then you have an idea of the complexity of this endless runner (though it offers a chapter-divided history if you prefer). For fans of the genre, this is a must.

Infinity Blade II

The month's biggest title, but maybe not necessarily the most interesting, is Infinity Blade II. Chair has heard all the criticisms, and this time we are actually a decent story and far more varied enemies. But the key is the ability to put gems in your gear, giving the experience a whiff of class-based systems. You can now use sword and shield, dual wield or swing huge double-handed choppers. Desert Bus

Not exactly your money's worth, but if you're like us, you can't help but buy. You need to run a bus from Tucson to Las Vegas - in real time. The trip takes eight hours, and all you can do is make sure that the bus does not run out of the way. The draw: the steering drags you slightly to the right, and the graphics suck. Did we mention this was in real time? It's amazing - and previous versions have spawned amazing runs for charity.

We can not wait for the developer's next title, which according to them is Portrait Sitting. Awesome.

Traffic Panic 3D

All fans of Burnout's Crash mode should take a look. One experiences the traffic in bird's eye view, just as in the latest Burnout Crash. There's only one intersection, but you're getting plenty of gameplay for your cash.

Firstly, you can compete to get as many cars as possible safely through the traffic intersection. Fail on your way to hitting a high score, and you an instead focus on creating as much damage as possible.

It seems both rather innocent in its conception, and at first glance a bit disappointing. But after half an hour of play you're hooked. This is a crack in game form, dragging you back for just one more game. Then another. Then another...

Judge Dredd

I AM THE LAW. If you are a fan of the classic 2000 AD comics will be pleased that the Rebellion has thrown a new Judge Dredd games on the iOS streets. Judge Dredd Vs. Zombies is a hopelessly unoriginal name (what is it with iOS and over-consumption of zombies?).

Behind the name hides a very entertaining topdown shooter in which the judge clears up multiple areas familiar to comic fans. The price is low and the gameplay entertaining. So buy it if you want a reunion with the world's toughest sci-fi judge.

We follow John Irish who ventures into a ravaged apocalyptic world in search of his family. Naturally this entails shooting as many mutants as possible.

Bullet Time HD is a dual-stick shooter that mixes in looting for an experience similar to Borderlands: but with the camera stationed above. You got the choice of solo action or two-player co-op. It might not be filled with insane much content right now, but the game is free to download, and unlike other titles that doesn't mean hidden costs with in-game
micro-transactions. For these reasons its deserves a look.

Call of Duty: Black Ops Zombies

Another zombie game. But bearing in mind that Activision's zombie-shooting is actually quite entertaining, we choose to overlook it. You'll know best if the idea of zombie soldiers and small, enclosed spaces is something for you. It offers most of the mechanics from the console versions, including co-op over online or local wi-fi. And as an added bonus, the Treyarch boys tossed in a top-down dual stick shooter with the transaction. Not bad.

Here is yet another pixelated and endless colourful runner. Get as far as you can with the game's protagonist - here a little red and very sad robot. As the genre goes, you must collect power-ups and avoid obstacles. Download this free title to enjoy some special music tracks - rocking synth ballads, along with your gameplay.

Minecraft Pocket Edition

Minecraft has went mobile in the form of an Alpha version. Note the pocket version isn't the full game. You can't craft. Can't mine. It'll only allow you to put blocks together, nothing else. However, you can share your creations across mobile platforms, and you can enjoy multiplayer with cross-platform play. Its good to see the title, but we'd wait for the big updates to come before jumping on.

Jurassic Park: The Game 1 HD

This game runs only on the iPad 2. Jurassic Park delivers a cinematic experience that's actually really good thanks to a well-made story and decent characterisation...and if you can accept its rammed full of QTEs.

This first part - Traveller's Tales adopting TV episodic structure - delivers content that's consciously iconic for fans of the original movie. There's plenty of recognisable scenes and musical cues to make you feel this is a direct continuation of the flick. There's some issues apparently stemming from trying to squeeze a PC experience onto a tablet, but it doesn't hamper the enjoyment of the overall experience. The end of a slow first half hour sees the pace pick up, so if you want to reacquaint yourself with a T-Rex and other snarling dinos, you can't go far wrong.

Zen Pinball

If you think that the name Zen Pinball sounds familiar, it's no coincidence. The pinball game is already a success across other platforms such as PS3, and mixes cool animations with great gameplay mechanics. You're given a free machine for your iPad or iPhone (with the option to buy Wolverine and Captain America machines as well). It is one of the best pinball games on the App Store, with free entry price, so there's no reason to ignore the title.
