Developer is "very happy" as Silence nears completion
The Whispered World sequel set to be more narrative focused.
Gamereactor recently caught up with creator Marco Hüllen and product manager Ralf Kessler to discuss {Silence}, the sequel to the critically acclaimed adventure game {The Whispered World}.
The long awaited sequel has been in the works for some time, but is finally nearing the end of production and now has an official release date. A second game was always planned by the team as Hüllen explained that "there was a lot of things we didn't tell in the first game and now we can tell it in the second one."
{Silence} has a very unique art style that sets it apart from other similar adventure games, which Kessler touched on, saying "they're 3D characters, but the backgrounds are still in 2D, this is a new technique for us, the camera projection technique and we have 2D backgrounds from the same artists that have created {The Whispered World} a long time ago, so we wanted to build this bridge between the 2D backgrounds from the same artists and with the 3D characters we have a lot of opportunities with the camera shots, close ups from the face, we can add so much more emotion in this game."
According to creator Hüllen, he wanted {Silence} to be a more narrative driven experience compared to its predecessor and would no contain as many puzzles, but would have better flow. With the game nearing its release date Hullen had this to say when asked how it feels to have the game almost ready: "It's so good, it's wonderful, now I can't think about it, because it's a couple of months between when it's really finished, but I'm very happy."
{Silence} will be released November 15 for Mac, PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
