Dark Devotion

Dark Devotion devoted to PC and console launch this year

Sidescroller to slash its way onto several platforms.

You can call them Castlevania-likes, Metroidvanias, or even a side-scrolling Dark Souls, but the bottom line is that the whole genre is on the rise once again. And with Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, Blasphemous, or The Messenger also on the horizon, The Arcade Crew has just announced, via the trailer below, that its Dark Devotion will release in 2018 as well.

The action-RPG was both funded on Kickstarter and greenlit on Steam, and now will make it to both PC and consoles (which means PS4, Xbox One, and most likely the Nintendo Switch) before the year's end.

Timing when using its many weapons, utilising magic, and exploring a deep narrative are key parts of the experience, with the whole consisting of four worlds full of enemies, puzzles and bosses. Is this a revival of a classic genre? Leave a comment after the new trailer below, and head this way to read our impressions of the game after we played it during its Kickstarter campaign.
