Creative Assembly's FPS focused on "heroes"
Details in a job listing for Lead Hero Designer indicate that each has their own specialities, although we still don't know exactly what this means.
Last year we reported on job listings indicating that Creative Assembly is working on another first-person game, following on from their successful horror title Alien: Isolation, and after they gave us a solid confirmation earlier this year, a job listing once again gives us some more details on the project.
This is for a Lead Hero Designer on their "tactical shooter IP", and the goal is to make "exciting playable characters, with a range of amazing thought and play provoking specialities". This sounds an awful lot like a hero shooter to us, and "a broad understanding of monetization, rewards and art production will be enormously helpful in the success of this role".
This role will require the employee to help with the visual design and cosmetics too, and if this doesn't sound hero-shooter enough for you, this next bit might:
"As Lead Hero Designer on our project, you will ensure our game heroes match the creative world and vision, providing compelling gameplay. You'll work closely with production to create and maintain the hero development roadmap and drive the quality of the team's output."
"This role will see you evangelising the roles of the games heroes across the wider team and work closely with directors and studio leads to develop and implement the character aspect of the game's vision. You'll need excellent communication skills and be able to captivate your audience, delivering clear and succinct information to both our developers and those in the senior leadership team. You will apply your proven leadership skills by sharing your expertise with more junior members of the team and helping them develop design skills."
Of course this still leaves a lot of unanswered questions, but perhaps it's something like Rainbow Six: Siege, which combines tactics and strategy with Operator specialities and abilities. This is all mere speculation for now, but it's certainly interesting to hear these details, which might differ from the expectations of many.
What do you make of what we're seeing here?

Thanks, VG247.
