Console patch for PUBG delayed until March 5

We'll have to wait a while for a solution to the issues brought in by the Vikendi update in January, although we will be getting some compensation.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds once upon a time only held a presence on PC, but since the launch on Xbox One in early access the game has fully launched on Microsoft's console and on PS4 as well, meaning console players now form a core part of the fanbase.

That said, a recent post on the game's website has revealed that the latest patch that was meant to land yesterday has been delayed until March 5, as there were allegedly "technical issues which would result in further harm to game stability."

The Vikendi update in January had brought performance issues with it, and this patch is looking to address those, including with a February 27 update for Xbox players that means they'll now be matched to their local region unless that matchmaking pool is too small. This should stop the previously reported issues of high pings, lag, and more.

The team apologises for the delay and adds that a "token of our appreciation" is on its way, with more details coming as the March 5 patch gets closer.

It's not all bad news for console players though, as those on PS4 have a Horizon Zero Dawn set of Eclipse skins to collect via in-game challenges to celebrate the second anniversary of Guerrilla Games' title.
