Blizzcon 2015 kicks off this weekend

Get ready for the latest news from Blizzard's annual event.

Blizzard Entertainment's almost annual gaming event, Blizzcon, is once again almost upon us. The expo brings together Blizzard fans from all parts of the globe for the ninth time this weekend in Anaheim California. The event is held on November 7 - 8 and they're expecting 26,000 fans to attend. It was once again sold out months in advance.

During the two day event Blizzard will show off the hottest new additions to its biggest franchises: World of Warcraft, Diablo, Starcraft II, Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm and, of course, the brand new team FPS Overwatch (that went into closed beta for the first time last week).

No doubt we can expect plenty of announcements regarding WoW's next Expansion, Legion, as well as Hearthstones's upcoming new cards. On top of that there's Heroes of the Storm and Overwatch's new heroes and content. On Friday Blizzard will also show off the full trailer for World of Warcraft The movie (check out the teaser below). There will also be loads of panels, hands-on testing, costume and talent contests, and all manner of related activities.

Blizzcon will also feature a host of eSport competitions. The best gamers from around the world will compete for the World Championship titles in Hearthstone, Heroes of the Storm and WoW Arena, bringing to an end months of qualification tournaments and events. Blizzcon will also host the finals of Starcraft II's World Championship Series, which is by many considered the most competitive game in Blizzard's roster.

Most of the competitions have already been going since last week (with qualification and group stages), but you can easily get up to speed with what's going on over at Battle.net. There you can also find all the schedules and streams for the all the different games: Head to https://eu.battle.net/blizzcon/en/esports/ for all the details.

For other Blizzcon events you'll need to get a virtual ticket, or you can of course simply tune to Gamereactor. We are on site at the Anaheim convention centre and will be reporting on the hottest happenings with articles, news and videos.
