New Sonic trailer teaser

Sega has given Sonic fans what they've been asking for all these years - sorta.

In a new trailer (which can be viewed in full below) the redesigned Sonic (ushered in for Sonic Adventure back on Seag's Dreamcast) meets up with his slightly chubbier, black-eyed counterpart from the 90s as the two race through a series of loops and slides that ring very close to the 2D gameplay sections of Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Colours.

Note that none of this is in-game, but that the teaser mentions something is coming this year, we wouldn't put it past Sega to do a time-travelling adventure were old meets new. Or two new games. Or something else.

Question is, can the company beat the Sonic curse and produce something that's critically acclaimed from all corners?
