Mavericks: Proving Grounds

Development has ceased for Mavericks: Proving Grounds

The ambitious battle royale game aiming for 1,000-player matches is no more, although Deceit is unaffected.

Automaton Games' Mavericks: Proving Grounds was a game that was aiming to use cloud technology to build a 1,000-player battle royale experience, as we heard when we spoke to James Thompson in the past, but we're using past tense because a brief statement on the developer's site has revealed the development has stopped.

"Please be advised that due to insufficient funding, the development of the Mavericks: Proving Grounds game has now ceased. The joint administrators are in the process of licensing the Deceit game so there will be no change in the live operation and provision of this game."

Deceit is a horror game that launched back in 2017, and this news also comes as a bit of a surprise considering a post on July 25 was breaking down the detailed changes coming to the alpha test, implying there was nothing wrong.

Will you miss Mavericks?

Thanks, VG247.
