Ubisoft and id Software joining Google at GDC

Google hasn't been shy in teasing their GDC presence next week, and now we have even more reason to be excited and intrigued.

The rumour mill about Google's gaming plans are growing, since we know that something will be revealed at the Game Developer Conference on March 19, and SVP of Devices & Services Rick Osterloh called it "the future of gaming". We even got a teaser for it too, to get us in the mood for whatever's coming.

Now some more fuel has been added to the fire (or giant inferno at this point), since the Google Developers Twitter page has revealed that both id Software and Ubisoft will be at their Developer Day session at GDC, happening the same day as this keynote that has everyone excited.

Keep an eye on the Google Store site for more on what's coming, and bear in mind that it's probably not the controller we saw pictures of recently, since Kotaku's Jason Schreier said this was "not real".

With experienced game developer Jade Raymond joining Google too, anticipation is very high about what they'll be revealing, which may well be a streaming service for games.

What could it be?
