The Persistence update adds four new modes
And accessibility options.
Firesprite Games has revealed that a free update is coming to their VR game The Persistence on October 18, including four new game modes, accessibility features, and improvements to the game's performance.
While Campaign and Survival Mode are already in the game, these four new modes offer a variety of ways to play. Glass Cannon, for example, requires you to beat 24 increasingly challenging rooms to get to an escape pod, with a timer running down as you go, and only 1 health point at your disposal. First Blood, on the other hand, prioritises stealth as you sneak around a deck with just a Peacekeeper knife.
Campaign+, as you'd expect, is where you start with all the gear and upgrades from the last playthrough, but a hardcore difficulty mode is activated, removing your SuperSense as well as adding a Bloodhound from the start. New character upgrade levels are also there, as well as platinum rarity gear items though.
And lastly there's Permadeath, which is pretty much what it says on the tin, except the Deck Porters let players travel between all Decks and Recovery.
Speaking about accessibility, this update features an Assist Mode to tweak the game's difficulty, including infinite ammo, game speed, and damage, but there's also assistance for hearing impaired gamers. For example, this includes a visual representation of audio events, letting players know where the danger is.
Over the Halloween period players can get 25% off the game on the PlayStation Store, with a further 10% off for PS Plus subscribers, so if you have yet to dive in then be sure to check it out in the most spooky of seasons.
