Rainbow Six: Siege

Rainbow Six: Siege "will last forever"

Game director Leroy Athanassoff says this may be the last game he works on.

We were recently at Rainbow Six: Siege's Six Major competition in Paris this past weekend, but we didn't just talk about esports, as our conversation with game director Leroy Athanassoff saw us talk about the game as it stands now, and how it feels for him being game director for it.

"It's huge. It's something that is a once in a lifetime opportunity," he told us. "You know, this game is probably the biggest game I will ever work with. We managed to achieve a dream that we had for years - it's been more than like 10 years that I've been working in this industry - and it's probably the last game that I will ever work on since it will last forever, so that's good."

"We've achieved almost everything we wanted in the sense of, we have a competitive scene, we have big organisations coming, we have an esport, we have a lot of players playing the game, a lot of engagement, like hours and hours spent by players into this game. But in terms of the game itself, we are far from we wanted to achieve. There are a lot of features that we want added to the game. There's a lot of operators, of gameplay, of content that we want to achieve [...] we are still far from the end of it."

If you need reminding, Operation Grim Sky is the next big content drop landing in the game, and below the interview you can find a video that gives you a taste of the new stuff.
