Tequila Works keeps developing Rime, now without Sony

Breaking and unexpected announcement from the studio.

The PR team at the Madrid-based studio Tequila Works has just announced the following in a brief statement:

"Tequila Works makes public today that it has recovered its rights over the intellectual property of its open-world adventure game, {Rime}. The studio keeps working on the development with the goal of meeting its ambitions for the game".

Shortly after, the team has posted a similar message on Twitter:

"Tequila Works has chosen to reacquire the rights to its adventure game, RiME, and is working hard to realise its aspirations for it."

Without further explanation, the announcement apparently means the project is no longer a PlayStation exclusive (Sony acted as publisher until now), implying independent development and opening the door to a potential launch on other platforms.

Gamereactor has contacted the team for further details and we'll update this space when the developers are ready to share more on the matter.
