Streamline

Streamline is an FPS designed for streaming

A most suitable title all things considered.

There's no point denying it; streaming has become a major part of the gaming industry, stretching across all genres. In light of this it makes sense that developer Proletariat is working on a game that's actually designed around streaming.

Announced yesterday during GDC, FPS game {Streamline} aims to "tears down barriers between Broadcasters, Players, and Viewers to create new game genre". The game is in development for the PC, and the goal is to take advantage of the possibility of live interaction between streamers and their audiences.

The concept is to let the average player (viewers) change various parameters of the game on the fly, to aid or hinder the star player (broadcaster). The game will let a broadcaster set up parties for up to 15 players, before sending them all into one of several different game modes, all of which can be altered as the game progresses.

In addition to these changes, which are put into effect by voting, the viewers can also place bets on the broadcaster in action as well as earn various rewards through mini-games based on the action. This is done via a second screen such as a mobile phone or a tablet, making it possible for even more people than the 15 participants to take part in the experience.

"We want to help the Twitch community play and interact with each other in a brand new way", Proletariat CEO and co-founder Seth Sivak explains in a press release. "Being the first preferred Twitch partner has been tremendously helpful; we've been able to deeply integrate Streamline into Twitch and usher in a new era of live-streaming interactivity for games."

Have a look at the announcement trailer showing the game in action. Streamline is available for testing on-site at GDC, suggesting it will turn up in one form or another (perhaps Early Access?) relatively soon.
