The Division will not include Brooklyn at launch
Massive explains why they're focused on Manhattan.
The E3 2013 trailer for Ubisoft's upcoming open-world action RPG, The Division, floored us all and even though that video clip showed a hefty firefight taking place in Brooklyn, developer Massive Entertainment recently commented on the fact that the game's map will not contain Brooklyn (at all) when it launches on March 8.
Massive's Magnus Jansen told The Examiner exactly why Staten Island and Brooklyn were left out of the finished game:
"For The Division we are going with Midtown Manhattan. It is because of the 1 to 1 re-creation and the way the pandemic has happened. Basically, everything has been hit and there are no more resources because everyone tried to get out. There is no more gasoline in the cars, there is no traffic, you're on foot," Jansen said.
You can read our own impressions of the game, having spent four hours exploring Manhattan, in last week's hands-on preview, and you can check out PvP gameplay from the dreaded Dark Zone below.
