"We work on this as one team"
Korekado on Metal Gear Rising.
Gamereactor's Mathias Holmberg sat down with Kojima Productions' Yuji Korekado to discuss the development of the next Metal Gear.
On the collaboration between Kojima Productions and Platinum Games:
"We decided at the very beginning what you do best you will do it, what we do best we will do it. That's what we decided at the very beginning and that's how we've been working. But that doesn't mean we are working each on our own. These elements will relate to eachother so we see each other's faces, we talk with eachother. When we change the story it affects the game design, when we want to change some of the cutscenes, some of the development may be affected sopretty much on a dialy basis we talk to eachother and we work on this as one team."
On the story and how it relates to the rest of the series:
"At the end of {Metal Gear Solid} 4 peace comes, but there are several side effects to that peace. And the story of Metal Gear Rising takes off with these side effects, civil war in countries and so the story is completely tied to other Metal Gear titles. We have kept the complete world view as in other Metal Gear titles added to that for Rising we wanted to make one complete story that has a beginning and an end so new users can enjoy the story. That said, that same story will have several elements to only fans of previous Metal Gear titles will be able to recognise."
