Battlefield 3 confirmed
We will have to wait though...
In a financial presentation EA COO John Pleasants revealed that work on {Battlefield 3} is under way at Swedish developer Digital Illusions. Digital Illusions are pushing out several Battlefield games including the free-to-play {Battlefield Heroes}, the download only Battlefield 1943 and {Battlefield: Bad Company 2} (pictured) before that.
When asked about whether EA had any plans to counter Activision Blizzard's juggernaut {Call of Duty} series in the FPS segment Pleasants had this to say:
"We have a lot of IP in that area, and we have not not noticed that {Call of Duty} has a significant share of that business. We are putting a real concentrated effort behind those titles. Battlefield happens to be one of them...I've had the luxury of looking at {Battlefield 3} over at DICE over in Sweden. I was highly impressed by the way the people were working on that product. That's not for this fiscal year, but that is a product that is looking very good."
So perhaps we can look forward to {Battlefield 3} sometime late in 2010? Maybe even as early as next summer.
